The photocatalytic performance of LaCuO3/CFB (CFB: Cuttlefish bone) composite catalyst was investigated for the degradation of the veterinary antibiotic oxytetracycline hydrochloride. The composite catalyst was characterized by SEM, XRD, XPS, BET, and FT-IR analyzes. The interactive influences of catalyst loading, pH and oxidant dosage on oxytetracycline hydrochloride degradation was investigated by using Box-Behnken Design. Reaction conditions were optimized at 0.77 g/L of catalyst loading, pH 4 and 3.46 mM of H2O2 dosage, and the antibiotic removal efficiency reached to 83% at these conditions. According to the kinetic study, the oxytetracycline hydrochloride oxidation followed second order reaction kinetics.
