I.I. Lapshin and N.O. Lossky in the journal «Der Russische Gedanke»

The materials here proposed have been prepared for the 150th birth anniversary of the of two outstanding Russian philosophers: the idealist and criticist I.I. Lapshin and the religious metaphysician and intuitionist N.O. Lossky. The materials reveal a little-known episode of reception of their work in the magazine “Der russische Gedanke”, published in Czechoslovakia between 1929 and 1931. The first piece is an introductory note about the journal Der russische Gedanke and its founder and editor, B.V. Yakovenko. The author emphasizes the continuity of B.V. Yakovenko's thought with the main idea of “Logos – International Journal of Cultural Philosophy”. Аnother part of the materials are a number of articles by B.V. Yakovenko, written in 1930 for the 60th birth anniversary of I.I. Lapshin and N.O. Lossky. The third and largest part of this work is a collection of four book reviews written by N.O. Lossky and published in European publishing houses, and four reviews written again by N.O. Lossky on the work of his colleagues. Their content shows the respectful nature of the professional relationship between the Russian philosophers.

Promoting Sustainable Nursing Leadership: The Nightingale Legacy.

The year 2020 features the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. Her legacy is often recalled as simply being "the lady with the lamp" who cared for sick and wounded British soldiers; however, her impact on the nursing profession includes serving as a role model for many leadership behaviors and strategies that have positively impacted the health of communities and populations around the world. Through her tireless endeavors, Nightingale exemplified many leadership roles, including advocate, change agent, interprofessional collaborator, and visionary. The development of effective skills in these leadership roles remains important for all levels of nursing leaders in today's health-care environment. This article showcases Nightingale's leadership in selected leadership roles, and demonstrates her continued impact on contemporary nurses.

The present volume of the Journal of Physics: Conference Series represents contributions from participants of the IX International conference «Lavrentyev readings on mathematics, mechanics, and physics» dedicated to the 120th anniversary of birth of Academician Mikhail Alekseevich Lavrentyev. The Conference was held at Novosibirsk Akademgorodok, Russia, on September 07–11, 2020, and organized by Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics and Novosibirsk State University.The Conference is traditional and attracts attention of mathematicians and physicists. Scientific activities of the Conference include discussion of a wide range of problems: mathematical problems of continuum mechanics, physics and mechanics of high-energy processes, fluid mechanics and mechanics of solids. The program of conference included 12 plenary presentations (40 minutes) and 186 oral presentations (20 minutes) given by more than 170 participants from 38 cities of Russia (Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Tomsk, Yakutsk, Perm, Novokuznetsk, Biysk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, etc.). A significant part of talks (about 30 %) were presented by young researchers and postgraduate students.We would like to thank the Speakers for their significant contributions to the conference. Religious and Political Dimensions of the Kartarpur Corridor: Exploring the Global Politics Behind the Lost Heritage of the Darbar Sahib

The 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak and the construction of the Kartarpur Corridor has helped the Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan gain global attention. In 2019, thousands of Sikhs embarked on a pilgrimage to Pakistan to take part in this momentous occasion. However, conversations surrounding modern renovations, government control of sacred sites, and the global implications of the corridor have been missing in the larger dialogue. Using historical methods and examining the Darbar Sahib through the context of the 1947 partition and the recent construction of the Kartarpur Corridor, this paper departs from the metanarrative surrounding the Darbar Sahib and explores the impact that Sikhs across the globe had on the “bridge of peace”, the politics behind the corridor, and how access to sacred Sikh spaces in Pakistan was only partially regained.

The 110th birth anniversary of Professor Leszek Winowski (1910–1979), expert in Canon Law, historian of state and law

Prof. Leszek Józef Egidiusz Winowski was born on 23 January 1910 in Skałat, Tarnopol Voivodeship, in the Eastern Lands of the Second Polish Republic. He studied in the Faculty of Law of Jan Kazimierz University in Lvov, where he earned the Master’s degree (1932), Doctor’s degree (1935), and in 1936 began his scientific work in the Chair of Church Law; from 1942 he was working in conspiracy in Lvov and cooperated with theBaltic Institute in Sopot; in Olsztyn he organized a branch of the Baltic Institute, which was operating in the Masurian District. In 1945, Leszek Winowski was employed in the Department of Law and Administration of Wrocław University and in 1974 he was granted the title of Full Professor. At the same time he worked in the Catholic University of Lublin, where he held the post of Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences in the years 1945-1946 and – following its liquidation – he worked in the Faculty of the Canon Law where he lectured in Roman law and ecclesiastical law. In 1957, L. Winowski resigned from his work in the Catholic University of Lublin. Between 1957 and 1968, he was employed in the Teacher’s Training College in Opole, still working for Wrocław University. As regards the fields of scientific studies developed by Prof. Leszek Winowski, one candistinguish three main directions dealing with the legal situation of dissenters from the earliest Middle Ages, the state and law of Islam, and lastly – history of the Church in Silesia. Prof. Leszek Winowski was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He was a member of many scientific societies. He died in Wrocław on 16 November 1979.

THE NURSES AS HEALTHCARE WARRIORS IN COVID-19: PUBLIC HEALTH PERSPECTIVE

The year 2020 is announced as “the year of the Nurses and midwives” by the World Health Organization to commemorate 200-year birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The declaration has given true sense by the outbreak of novel CORONA virus since the beginning of the year. The nurses are the frontline fighters against COVID-19 to save the humankind. They put their lives at risk and perform their duties and responsibilities round the clock towards the community, public health and hygiene. Nurses have been showing the act of heroism, be it during the wars, epidemics and at times of disasters such as Covid-19. Nurses are facing many challenges in carrying out their duties and one of the biggest challenges is shortage of nurses, due to which they are overloaded with work. Nurses play a crucial role in the healthcare delivery system and nursing services has a great impact on health outcome of patients and public. The nurses are the backbone of the healthcare services. The nurses play a vital role towards the improvement of public health and hygiene with their independent practice. There is incredible scope to utilize the qualified nurses in public health and hygiene in developing countries like India to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of community dwellers. Dmytro Vasylovych Breslavsky – an outstanding scientist - mechanic (on the 60th anniversary of birth)

The article contains an essay about the outstanding scientist - mechanic, doctor of technical sciences, professor Dmytro Vasylovych Breslavsky. A brief summary of the main scientific results obtained by D.V. Breslavsky in various branches of informatics and flight control, mechanics: the theory of creep, continuum mechanics of damage, the theory of plates and shells. The description of the scientific path of Dmytro Vasylovych Breslavsky from the student's bench to the scientific leadership of graduate students and doctoral students is given, as well as the path of the administrator, head of the Department and Faculty. Scientific achievements are presented in international cooperation with the Otto von Guericke Magdeburg University and the Martin Luther University in Halle, Germany, as well as cooperation with enterprises and institutions of Ukraine. A description of the applied research of devices, equipment, machines and structures is given. The article contains main scientific publications of Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Dmytro Vasylovych Breslavsky. He is the author of 200 scientific publications, co-author of four monographs, two textbooks. Research interests: physically nonlinear problems of mechanics of a deformable solid (creep, fracture under cyclic and impact loads), finite element method, computer modeling of technical processes, IT-technologies in problems of mechanics.The result of many years of work in the direction of creating a theory of dynamic and cyclic creep of materials and structural elements was provided in scientific reports D.V. Breslavsky and O.K. Morachkovsky, made at world scientific conferences in Belgrade and Montreal and published in scientific publications.

The Nightingale Legacy.

The World Health Organization (WHO, 2020) has designated 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife to mark the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. This celebration honors her work and impact on the nursing profession-one of engagement and advocacy for public health. Nightingale's Notes on Nursing (1860) illustrated her observations of social determinants for health wellness and illness. She championed efforts for community access to clean water and public sanitization and emphasized the importance of nutrition and hygiene on healing and wellness. Her calls for action still resonate with enduring worldwide healthcare shortcomings, which contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality.

Andrei Petrovich Romodanov (for the 100th anniversary of birth)

The article traces the life of famous Soviet neurosurgeon Andrei Petrovich Romodanov from his school years and participation in the Great Patriotic War to headship of the Kiev Neurosurgery Research Institute. Dr. Romodanov was the full member of the Academy of Medical Sciences, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, mentor of several generations of neurosurgeons. His contributions to organization of the neurosurgical service, pedagogical work, participation in All-Soviet Union research programs are described.

Karamzin’s 250th birth anniversary is based on the materials of the international scholarly conference organized by the Institute of Russian Literature of the RAS in 2016. The book was prepared with painstaking accuracy and belongs to the most significant and noteworthy of recently published philological works. The remarkable cyclic composition is structured both logically and symmetrically, as well as with grace, taste, and wittiness so typical of the historical period in question. Stokes' law, viscometry, and the Stokes falling sphere clock.

Clocks run through the history of physics. Galileo conceived of using the pendulum as a timing device on watching a hanging lamp swing in Pisa cathedral; Huygens invented the pendulum clock; and Einstein thought about clock synchronization in his Gedankenexperiment that led to relativity. Stokes derived his law in the course of investigations to determine the effect of a fluid medium on the swing of a pendulum. I sketch the work that has come out of this, Stokes drag, one of his most famous results. And to celebrate the 200th anniversary of George Gabriel Stokes' birth I propose using the time of fall of a sphere through a fluid for a sculptural clock-a public kinetic artwork that will tell the time.
