Management of Ahiputana (Diper Rash) in an Infant with application of Shatdhauta Ghruta A single case study

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science which deals with the swasthya or normal health of human being as well as wide description regarding various diseases and their treatment. Diaper rash is a common problem in pediatric OPD. Prevalence of Diaper rash has been variably reported from 7-35% in the first one year of life. Most cases occurs between 9-12 month of age. It is caused by improper care of infants and children requiring diapering. Ayurveda clearly states that main Hetu (cause) of Ahiputana is Stanyadushthi. (3) The disease is characterized by Pidika (papulovesicular lesion), Kandu (Irritability due to itching), Strava(discharge),Varna(skin color over perianal region) etc.

Contribution of Srisailam in the Historical Progress of Ayurveda During Medieval Period

Ayurveda, an ancient medical science on earth which was already a highly developed science with its manifold specialized practice in pre Buddhist era. It was gradually declined in the medieval period due to many political reasons. Rasa sastra, a branch related to Ayurveda which deals with herbomineral medicines developed during medieval period. Srisailam is considered to be centre for many Buddhists, Tantrics and Siddhas. Because of the efforts of Siddha yogis like Acharya Siddha Nagarjuna, Ayurveda again flourished with new branches (Rasa sasthra) & new drugs (Rasoushadhis). These medicines are prepared by Parada i.e., mercury and other metals as main ingredients along with some other herbal drugs available in the Nallamala and river banks of Krishna near Srisailam. At present also different varieties of medicinal plants, metals and minerals abundantly available at Srisailam and surrounding areas which are very much useful in treating many chronic as well as dreadful diseases.

CO-RELATION OF ANCIENT YANTRA AND MODERN SURGICAL INSTRU-MENTS-A REVIEW

Introduction-Ayurveda is an ancient medical science, and Surgery is one of Ayurveda’s oldest modalities of the medical system; it is believed that ancient Indian scientists explored essential knowledge of Shastrakarma.Ayurveda contains detailed descriptions of the techniques and practices of the great ancient surgeon Sushruta.Who has considerable surgical knowledge that is relevant even today also. The ancient surgical science was known as ShalyaTantra.Sushrut Samhita elaborates on Yantra and Shastras, used for various Shastra karma. Shalyas affect both Manas and Shareera; Yantras are used to remove this Shalya. Now a day’s same techniques are used for pain management. Efforts in this article are to correlate Sushrutokta Ancient Yantra with modern surgical instruments/equipment. Materials and methods: Ayurvedic and Modern Texts and Websites. Result: Many Yantras are like modern surgical Instruments in appearance, and modern ones with different names now adopt Funclikeh. Conclusion: As time progressed and new metals (like stainless steel and copper) were invented, the shape and length of instruments changed. But the aim of the instruments remains the same,i.e., the removal of Shalya.

Management of Mandagni (~diminution of Agni) a case study; evaluating the effect of Chitrakadi Vati and Ekakala Bhojana (one time meal in day) in alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms

Ayurveda, an ancient medical science, emphasizes the balance of Tridosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), proper functioning of Dhatus (tissues), and enhancement of Agni (digestive fire) for maintaining health. Mandagni, or diminished Agni, is a common ailment in Ayurveda associated with various gastrointestinal symptoms. This case study aims to evaluate the efficacy of traditional Ayurvedic interventions, specifically Chitrakadi Vati and Ekakala Bhojana (one-time meal in a day), in alleviating Mandagni and its related gastrointestinal manifestations. The study documents the case of a 38-year-old female patient exhibiting symptoms of Mandagni, including abdominal and head heaviness, cough, weakness, and tastelessness. Treatment involved Chitrakadi Vati and Ekakala Bhojana, aimed at enhancing Jatharagni and alleviating symptoms. Assessment criteria encompassed subjective and objective measures, showing improvements in symptoms and laboratory parameters post-treatment. Discussion highlights the pharmacological actions of Chitrakadi Vati and dietary modifications of Ekakala Bhojana in promoting digestion and alleviating symptoms. The study concludes positively, suggesting the efficacy of these Ayurvedic interventions in managing Mandagni and enhancing overall well-being.

Role of Gandhak Rasayan in Kshudra Kushtha - A Review Article

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science, which not only treats the diseases but it also emphasizing for a healthy life. Ayurveda’s main aim is to maintaining Dhatusamya of body. The person who follows the rules of Dincharya, Ritucharya and Aahar Vihar able to live healthy life. But in today’s lifestyle it is difficult to follows these rules and due to sedentary changes in daily habits of diet, work etc. This continuous exposure to these factors various systemic changes are occurring in our body, these factors mainly vitiates Rakta Dhatu and in Kshudra Kushtha (Minor skin diseases) also the vitiation of Rakta Dhatu. There are two types of Kustha, Maha Kushta and Kshudra Kustha. Mahakustha is of eight types and Kshudra Kustha is of eleven types. According to Ayurveda, Tvacha (skin) is a seat of Sparshanrndriya. It carries the sensation of touch and it also covers the internal part of the body. Tvacha (skin) is ‘Panchbhautik’ but out of them Vayumahabhuta is prominent one. Gandhak Rasayana is one of the oral medicines described for many skin diseases. Gandhak Rasayana mainly acts on skin, blood and it is Rasayana in action. So, it more or less acts on all Doshas and Dhatus.

An Updated Review on Nelumbo Nucifera Gaertn: Chemical Composition, Nutritional Value and Pharmacological Activities.

Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn is a recognised herbal plant in ancient medical sciences. Each portion of the plant leaf, flower, seed and rhizome is utilised for nutritional and medicinal purposes. The chemical compositions like phenol, alkaloids, glycoside, terpenoids and steroids have been isolated. The plant contains various nutritional values like lipids, proteins, amino acids, minerals, carbohydrates, and fatty acids. Traditional medicine confirms that the phytochemicals of plants give significant benefits to the treatment of various diseases such as leukoderma, smallpox, dysentery, haematemesis, coughing, haemorrhage, metrorrhagia, haematuria, fever, hyperlipidaemia, cholera, hepatopathy and hyperdipsia. To verify the traditional claims, researchers have conducted scientific biological in vivo and in vitro screenings, which have exhibited that the plant keeps various notable pharmacological activities such as anticancer, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antiviral, hypolipidemic, anti-obesity, antipyretic, hypoglycaemic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities. This review, summaries the nutritional composition, chemical constituents and biological activities substantiated by the researchers done in vivo and in vitro.

Conceptual study of Sira

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science which have proved for more than 5000 years ago. Dosha, Dhatu, and Mala are regarded as the fundamental elements of the human body. In addition to these components, Sira is a significant entity in which Rasadi Dhatus and Ojas flows from one place to other in the body. It is one among the Marma Vastu. In Ayurveda, the word Sira, Dhamani and Srotas are used interchangeably. All of these structures are present very closely and are minute and serves different functions in the body. Two chapters in Shareera Sthana in particular have been provided by Acharya Sushruta to explain the Sira.

Analytical Review of Medadhatudushti in Prameha

Prameha is a lifestyle disorder, described in ancient medical science. It is a sannipataja disorder having predominance of kaphadosha and medodhatudushti. It is produced by the vitiation of ten dusya which include six dhatu, ojus and body fluids. Among ten dusya meda is prime dusya because of similar nature of kapha and meda. Various factors i.e. aharaja and viharaja nidana, increase kapha dosha which in turn vitiates medodhatu. Vitiated kapha affects the medovahasrotasa and medodharakala. Medadhatwaagni gets degraded resulting into improper formation of medadhatu. The abnormal medadhatu is responsible for obesity and prameha. It leads to the manifestation of many purvarupa of prameha & ultimately prabhutaavila mutrata. Assessment of medadusthi is very important for the early diagnosis and proper treatment of prameha.

Is it possible to Survive life on the Moon in future & where there is life, there is an Ayurveda. If we neglect Ayurveda\'s principles, then surviving of life on the Moon is impossible. So we have to think accordingly. Ayurveda is the ancient medical science & it has its own terms & terminologies & principles, which are eternal. So Ayurveda is sustaining till date. It is a good Step toward to try for setting the life on the Moon. But we have to think finely each & every corner regarding safetyness of life. Definitely technology & modern science has achieved great success today & they will receive much more than this. But at the Same time, we should not forget our old gold knowledge. Ayurveda’a principles will definitely play the major role in guiding us in our success. Even ISRO scientists sealing this. It is good thinking that they are well known about our Veda\'s knowledge. Now up to some extent, we can be hopped that life will survive on the Moon in future. Human beings are proceeding towards this. Only human will help to human & man has to promote himself. As per the GITA - ‘उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानम्’ which is mentioned in GITA-lesson 18 by Lord Krishna, which means ‘to promote self by ourself ’. Some principles of Ayurveda, we can apply in this sector too. The eternal principles of Veda & Ayurevda will help us to become super-power as well as Universal Guru on the basis of knowledge which is with us in our Veda & Ayurveda.

A REVIEW OF KRIYAKALPAS USED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF KARNAROGAS

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science gifted from old ancient sages. It is not only a system of medicine in the sense of curing disease. Shalakya Tantra is a branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda that deals with studying diseases that occur above the clavicle and treatment. Karna is one among the nine bahya srotas and is considered one of the five sensory organs. It is known as Shrotrendriya. The main function of the ear is the perception of sound along with maintaining the equilibrium of the body. Shalakya tantra refers to the kriya kalpa, where kriya denotes a special therapeutic approach and kalpa denotes a pharmaceutical formulation, such as swarasa, kwatha, or kalka, that is utilized in therapy. In all kinds of karna rogas kriya kalpa are useful. Our Acharya’s explained many procedures for karna roga like karna prakshalan, karna Pramarjana, karna Dhoopana, and karna poorana, kavala and gandusha.

Critical Analysis of Malignancies in Ayurveda WSR to ENT Cancer

Cancer is one of the major causes of death across the globe accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. The commonest cancers are breast (11.6%), Lung (11.6%), colorectal (6.1%), and prostate cancer (7.1%). Every 6th death in the world is due to the cancer. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (ARC), by 2040, the global burden of Cancer is expected to grow by 27.5 million new cases. And it’s going to increase further due to faulty dietary and lifestyle practices. Therefore, it is necessary to look for every possible solution including the ancient medical sciences such as in Ayurveda. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical science. There are references to various malignancies in Ayurveda. The tumour is referred as ‘Arbuda’ or ‘Gulma’ in Ayurveda. All the characteristics of tumour are very well mentioned in Ayurveda. Ayurvedic acharyas while suggesting the operation for these tumours, said that these tumours should be excised completely along with surrounding healthy tissue otherwise it recures soon indicating the malignant nature of the tumour. Most of the tumours are mentioned as incurable again indicating its malignant nature. In Ayurveda, tumour is classified based on doshas and structural appearance. There are references to Liver tumour, Nasal tumour, Ear tumour, Throat tumours, head tumour, muscle tumour. Liposarcoma and hemangiosarcoma. But there is no reference to breast malignancy which is common today. The less prevalence of breast malignancy during ancient time could be due to better infant feeding practices as compared to today’s era or it could be have been included under Mansarbuda. Among the treatment modality for Cancer, apart from medicine and surgery, cauterization and application of Alkali is also suggested in Ayurveda to avoid the recurrence. It is observed and concluded that Cancers are very well documented in Ayurveda and the treatment suggested for treating the tumours need to be reexplored.

A Single Case Study of Manjisthadi Lepa on Gulpharujakarmarmasandhighata W.S.R to Ankle Sprain

Ayurveda the science of life is the most ancient medical science which has focused primarily on preventive aspect rather than curative aspect, marma science is one of the exclusive and unique concepts of ayurveda, marma are vital and vulnarable areas of our body these areas or points are situated all over the body i.e. head, neck, trunk and extremeties, so knowledge of marma areas is not only essential for individuals for proctecting their vital and vulnerable areas of body from any injury but also for physician and surgeons to save these areas during surgical procedure or any medical interventation. Many references can be found in Vedic literature regarding injury at marma region of soldiers of enemies and protection of one's marma by wearing guards. Marmas are formed by the conglomeration of muscles, vessels, ligaments, tendons, bones and their joints. These marma areas have tridosha, triguna, bhutatma and chetana dhatu, so any injury to these points may cause pain or even death, other symptoms which appear on injury of marma are giddiness, syncope, delusion, semiconciousness, numbness etc
 Demanding lifestyle has boosted the incidence of trauma/soft tissue injury. One among such conditions is sprain with site predominance as Ankle accounting for 75%. Most sprains are sports related injuries and treatment for which is PRICE (pain killers, rest, icepack, compression and elevation) in allied science. In the United States it is estimated that 23,000 people per day, necessitate medical care for ankle sprains including athletes and non-athletes. AchayraSushruta in the context of BhagnaChikitsa explained ManjisthadiLepa to combat Vedana (pain).
 In this case study a patient diagnosed with rujakarmarmkshat of gulphasandhi was treated with a manjisthadilepa application twice a day daily for seven days.assessment of patient was done by scorring pattern. After completion of manjisthadilepa treatment significant relief was observed in symptopms.

Vata - The Niyanta and Praneta of Manas

Ayurveda is the most ancient medical science of the world. It is practiced to attain Chaturvidha Purusharthas namely Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Shareera becomes main Sadhana for attaining these Purusharthas. Ayurveda gives importance to both Shareerika and Manasika Swasthya equally. Vata, Pitta, Kapha popularly known as Tridoshas are chief functional components of the body. Equilibrium of these Doshas is very essential for maintenance of all activities in the body. When these Doshas are balanced, all activities related to body, mind and senses occur smoothly. With this, one can enjoy a status of perfect health and immunity. On the other hand these Doshas are imbalanced, they cause various diseases. Shareera and Manas are inter-related. Always Shareera follows Manas and Manas follows Shareera. Vata Dosha is known to be related with Rajo Guna and thereby we can see effect of fluctuation of theses Doshas in Shareera, results in different conditions. So, in case of vitiation of Vata, there is also vitiation of Rajo Guna which ultimately vitiates Manas and its attributes. So, it can be said that, Vata acts as the root cause of different Manasa Roga.

Critical Evaluation of Concept of Genetics in Ayurveda WSR to Eight Undesired Body Types (Ashta Nindit)

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science of India. The roots of many concepts of modern medicine are deep seated in Ayurveda. Genetics is one such concept which has its roots in Ayurveda. The word ‘Gene’ probably have developed from the word ’Genesis’ which in turn might have evolved from the Sanskrit word ‘Janana’ which literally means to produce medicine. Ayurveda also says that as per the maternal and paternal genetic influence during embryogenesis, organs with maternal and paternal make up shapes up. Ayurveda is of the view that during this process of embryogenesis, if any part of the Beeja (zygote) gets affected, then the genetic abnormality of that part is noticed in later life. Prakriti (Typical body types) is one such concept which is genetically determined during the process of embryogenesis. In Ayurveda, hereditary disorders are referred to as “Adibala Pravrutta Vikara”. The eight undesired body types, mentioned in Ayurveda such as Ati Deergha (Long stature), Ati Hrasva (Short stature), Ati Sthula (Hereditary obesity), Ati Krusha (Hereditary leanness), Ati Gaura (Hereditary Albinism), Ati Krushna (Hereditary Hypermelanosis), Ati Loma (Hereditary Hypertrichosis), A Loma (Hereditary Hypotrichosis) may be categorized under Adibala Pravrutta Vikaras. (Hereditary Diseases). The present study aims to study the concept of eight undesired body types with respect to their genetic inheritance in the light of modern medical advances in genetics. It is observed and concluded that the concept of genetics is very well mentioned in Ayurveda and the eight undesired body types have genetic predisposition.

ESTIMATION OF FACIAL WRINKLES AMONG DIFFERENT DEHA PRAKRITI VOLUNTEERS

Background: Ayurveda is an ancient medical science. The body is governed by three humors in Ayurveda called dosha: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Aim: Variation in facial wrinkles among different deha prakriti with the help of the wrinkles assessment scale. Material and Method: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted at the institute and its periphery. Initially, 500 female volunteers were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Out of which, 310 were assessed for their prakriti with standard prakriti proforma of MUHS. Facial wrinkles were evaluated with the help of a wrinkles assessment scale of 180 female volunteers. Result: The average number of wrinkles was significantly higher in pitta pradhan prakriti compared to kapha pradhan and Vata pradhan prakriti. Premature ageing signs (wrinkles) were higher in Pitta pradhan prakriti.

Pragyaparadha are main causes of all noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension etc.

Epilepsy is a serious disorder of the CNS that affects both children&adults.The medium chain fatty acids in pure Ghee get converted into ketones and supply the epilepsy patient brain with the energy it needs to survive and if given on a continual basis will support processes in the brain that are involved in healing and repair.Putting few drops of warm pure ghee in both nostrils regularly reduces epilepsy.Ghee is very essential to maintain the lipid membrane of cells especially the brain tissues, the lack of which results in diseases with memory loss like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s. Polycystic ovarian disease: Preventive approach

Polycystic Ovarian Disease PCOD is an important hormonal disorder occuring in girls and women during their teenage / reproductive age. Most of the times it is presented in the form of enlarged ovaries with small cysts on outer edges. Review of Viruddha Ahara and its Effect on Healthy Life

Ayurveda is a vast and ancient medical science. Unlike other medical sciences, instead of focusing on treatment of any particular disease, Ayurveda focuses more on the healthy living and wellbeing of the patient. For healthy living, Ayurveda emphasizes on consuming right kind of diet which is healthy and nutritious. In Ayurvedic classics, Ahara (food) is mentioned as one among the three Upasthambas (Sub-pillars of body). Ahara is considered to be vital for a human body as it provides the basic nutrients, which are very essential to carry out the basic activities of digestion and metabolism. Ayurveda clearly defines that certain diet and its combinations, which interrupts the metabolism of tissue, which inhibits the process of formation of tissue and which have the opposite property to the tissue are called as Viruddha Ahara or incompatible diet. The concept of Viruddha Ahar is a unique to Ayurveda system. The food that has improper combinations or is wrongly processed is called Viruddha Ahar. Also, a time, season and quantity have their impact. Certain foods not consumed at a right time of a day (kaala), season (ritu) and proper quantities (matra) can also be classified as Viruddha ahar. The food which is incompatible in respect to climate, quantity, method of preparation, combination etc. are described as potent cause of both physical and psychological illnesses.

Pharmacological Concept of Dravyaguna according to Actions

Ayurveda is ancient medical holistic science and its concepts deals with the overall health and management of disease related to health. During the management of disease number of formulations are mentioned which helps to overcome the disease. Many plants and their formulations are mentioned in Ayurvedic texts .Their mode of action, formulation and dosage is also being explained. The special branch of Ayurveda which deals with the general principles related to the Ayurveda pharmacognosy and pharmacology is called as Dravayaguna. Namajnana, Rupajnana, Gunajnana, and Yuktijnana are only a few of the components that make up Dravyaguna Vigyan. The Dravyaguna Vigyan in Ayurveda is a platform where we may understand the qualities of Dravya (medicines) comprehensively. If we take the word "Dravya Guna" at its literal definition, dravaya means material or objects, and "Guna" implies property, relates Dravyaguna Vigyan Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipak, and Prabhav are considered while examining the pharmacological effects of medications. Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipak, and Prabhav are said to be intrinsic qualities of medications in Ayurveda, and they merely serve to enhance the drug's therapeutic effects. Therefore, I am offering this study about the fundamental idea of Dravyaguna and how its qualities contribute to pharmacological activities.
