One-Pot Preparation of N,N'-Alkylidene Bisamide Derivatives Catalyzed by Silica Supported Magnesium Chloride (SiO2-MgCl2)

A highly efficient and simple procedure for the preparation of N,N'-alkylidene bisamides via one-pot threecomponent condensation reaction of phenyl acetylene/1-Hexyne, aromatic aldehyde and benzamide/acetamide in the presence of catalytic amount of silica supported magnesium chloride (SiO2-MgCl2) under thermal solvent-free conditions is described. All of the reactions proceeded in high yields and in relatively short reaction times. One-pot preparation of N,N′-alkylidene bisamide derivatives catalyzed by silica supported polyphosphoric acid (SiO2-PPA)

Silica supported polyphosphoric acid (SiO2-PPA) as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst was found to be effective for the one-pot three-component condensation reaction of phenyl acetylene/1-hexyne, aromatic aldehyde and benzamide/acetamide to produce a series of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides. The desired products were obtained in good to high yields. The assistance of alkynes has been confirmed by using thin layer chromatographic (TLC) studies. All the reactions were done at 100 °C using 0.025 g of catalyst. The developed method is valid for either substituted aldehyde, thus it constitutes a general synthetic method for these kinds of compounds. In all the cases aromatic aldehydes containing electron-withdrawing groups gave shorter time than that with electron-donating groups. Additionally, the reaction of butyraldehyde with benzamide failed to have any product in the presence of phenyl acetylene but with 1-hexyne the product was formed in moderate yield.

Silica-supported barium chloride (SiO2–BaCl2) — Efficient and heterogeneous catalyst for the environmentally friendly preparation of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides under solvent-free conditions

A series of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides were prepared via a green and environmentally friendly synthetic protocol from the reaction of phenyl acetylene or hex-1-yne, aromatic aldehyde, and benzamide or acetamide. Silica-supported barium chloride (SiO2–BaCl2) catalyzes the process of the reaction. The prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, and the products were obtained with high conversions and yields.

Symmetrical N,N′-alkylidene bisamides have been synthesized in excellent yield by the condensation of aromatic ′aldehydes and amides in the presence of phosphotungstic acid as a catalyst under thermal and neat microwave irradiation conditions. It is the first successful report of phosphotungstic acid being used as Bronsted acid catalyst for the preparation of symmetrical N,N′-alkylidene bisamides. The remarkable advantages offered by this method are green catalyst, mild reaction conditions, simple procedures and excellent yield of product.

Boric acid catalyzed efficient synthesis of symmetrical N,N′-alkylidene bisamides

Symmetrical N,N′-alkylidene bisamides were synthesized in excellent yield by condensation of aromatic aldehydes and amides in the presence of boric acid as a catalyst under thermal and neat microwave irradiation conditions. It is the first successful report of boric acid has been used as Lewis acid catalyst for the preparation of symmetrical N,N′-alkylidene bisamides. The remarkable advantages offered by this method are green catalyst, mild reaction condition, simple procedure, fast reaction and moderate to good yield of products.

Improved Synthesis of Symmetrical N,N’-Alkylidene Bisamides

N,N’-Alkylidene bisamides were synthesized in good yield from aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes and amides in the presence of catalytic amounts of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (triflic acid).
