DO-178C/ED-12C is a recent update of the industry standard that provides guidance for software considerations in airborne systems. DO-330/ED-215 has recently been developed as an annex to DO-178C/ED-12C for software tool qualification. It explains tool life-cycle processes as a part of the certification endeavor. With the advancements of model-based practices, simulation has become one of the major tools in airborne software development, particularly used for verification purposes. IEEE 1730 Distributed Simulation Engineering and Execution Process (DSEEP) is a recommended practice for simulation life-cycle processes. The intent of this study is to create an overlay from DO-330/ED-215 to the DSEEP to reduce time, effort, and eventually cost that are required to obtain software tool qualification for simulations that are employed in airborne software development.
