RISKS IDENTIFYING AND ASSESSMENT PECULIARITIES IN BUSINESS PLANNING PROCESS

The scientific article discusses problematic aspects of identifying and assessing risks at the stage of developing business plans. It was determined that changes in the economic environment of enterprises require the formation of new approaches and means of solving economic problems. One of the effective ways to solve this problem is to develop a business plan. This document should be considered both a management tool of the business entity and a means of attracting financing. The specifics of business planning are defined, the main reasons that lead to the development of a business plan are considered.
 It is noted that risks are an important element that must be paid attention to in business planning. The interpretation of the term "risk" in the scientific literature is generalized. It was determined that the presence of risk in the business plan is a forming factor of uncertainty. The study points to the presence of risks as a mandatory and undeniable element of enterprise activity in modern conditions. Risk assessment is a mandatory structural element of a typical business plan.
 It is indicated that each business plan is individual and unique. It is proposed to detail the risks not in a separate section "Risks", but in the section of the main sections of the business plan: market analysis, marketing plan, organizational plan and management, production plan, financial plan, which will allow group all existing risks, detail them and develop priority measures to neutralize them.
 The main types of risks that may arise in the main sections of the business plan are revealed. It was determined that the systematization of types and groups of risks by sections is an important tool for their effective management, because it helps to choose individual approaches to assessment, measurement, forecasting and selection of response measures.
 As a result, it is proposed to form an appropriate table of risks and means of their neutralization, which will allow to show the investor or an interested person that the applicant is informed and able to cope with the risks and threats of the project

The phenomenon of frustration in the information sphere

This article is devoted to the study of the influence of information on consciousness, psyche and human activity in modern conditions. The role of information in the further development of modern society and the state is shown, the basis of which is the formation of an information society with the development of computing and information technology. It is noted that currently information is an important source of the formation and functioning of power, a necessary condition for which is the collection, analysis, processing, selection and effective use of information. Today's mass media broadcast information about the processes in the regions, the country, and the world, with the help of which different ideological visions are literally imposed on the population, and which can act as a force that can both stabilize society and become a detonator of a social explosion. At the same time, information becomes a real, almost physically tangible force that can increase power projection, reducing the adversary's will and ability to wage war. Attention is focused on the fact that, as a weapon, information can be related to the emergence of such a category as “information trauma”, i.e., as a consequence of the effect of a certain type of information on the human psyche and which accompanies all other types and forms of collective trauma and is their mandatory component. It is emphasized that the problem of informational influences on the psyche of people has become more acute in the modern world in connection with terrorist and hybrid wars, in particular in Ukraine – in connection with the informational war that Russian propaganda has purposefully waged in recent years. At the same time, the influence of information technologies in various spheres of life is constantly growing. Modern wars are fought in the information space with the help of specific information types of weapons. Information can be both a means of defense and an offense, depending on whose resource and propaganda will be more powerful. The success of their implementation depends on the successful implementation of information and psychological campaigns (information and psychological operations), the essence of which is to influence public consciousness in such a way as to lead people and force them to act against their interests. It has been determined that the use of information as a weapon directed against a probable or potential adversary, primarily against the psychological and mental state of a person, with the aim of causing the population a state of distress, disappointment, anxiety, irritability, despair, as well as a sense of hopelessness and despair, i.e. one of the forms of psychological stress is called frustration, the result of which can be a person's depression. It is noted that if we look at frustration purely through an information prism, then as a result of targeting information to a person, society or country, it is possible to achieve a kind of paralysis of any activity of the object of such information action when it falls under the influence of the subject of information influence. That is, the goal is to paralyze or minimize the relevant activity (military, political, cultural, etc.), and, thereby, to “neutralize” the ability of the object of such informational influence to resist the subject of informational influence. At the same time, its various forms are given: trolling; IPSO, their content and features are revealed, and examples of fake recognition mechanisms are given. It has been established that frustration, in addition to being a negative factor, plays a certain constructive role in the behavior of many people, when, thanks to its positive influence on the subject's psyche, achievement motives often become dominant in his motivational sphere, and the attractiveness of the set goal increases. The definition of the term “informational frustration” is provided – directing relevant information to a certain range of objects, with the aim of influencing (positively or negatively) their psychological state, which will contribute to the achievement of a certain goal for the subject of the dissemination of such information. Examples of the action of frustration in the political life of current Ukraine in its negative sense are given, which is a peculiar form of political struggle, and which leads to the activation of a peculiar affect of the so-called “existential frustration” – a negative phenomenon characterized by subjective experiences, apathy, inner emptiness, cynicism, does not contribute to the consolidation of society in the fight against the enemy.

ФОРМУВАННЯ СТРАТЕГІЇ ПІДПРИЄМСТВА В УМОВАХ ДИНАМІЧНОГО БІЗНЕС-СЕРЕДОВИЩА

The article examines the specifics of the functioning of a dynamic business environment, which stimulates enterprises to constantly adapt to changes and form effective strategies to ensure their profitability. The process of forming the company's strategy in the conditions of constant changes in the business environment is studied. The key aspects of the formation of the company's strategy are analyzed, in particular, the identification of factors of the external environment that affect business processes, the analysis of internal resources and competitiveness, as well as the principles of determining strategic goals and action plans. Methods and tools that help enterprises effectively adapt to changes, such as SWOT analysis, PESTLE analysis, portfolio analysis and others, are considered. The importance of constant monitoring and strategic planning to ensure the conditions of sustainable development of the economic entity is determined. Recommendations for the formation of an enterprise strategy in the conditions of a dynamic business environment are offered. The importance of adapting and constantly updating the company's strategy is proven, which is defined as a key factor of successful activity in modern conditions. The need for active strategic planning of the economic activity of enterprises and their adaptation to the changes that are constantly occurring in their business environment, in order to achieve a competitive advantage and sustainable development, is determined. It has been proven that in order to achieve success on the market in conditions of significant dynamics of business processes, it is necessary to take into account not only current trends, but also possible future changes in the environment itself, which requires an enterprise to be open to innovation and ready to take risks. It was determined that innovation and flexibility are important elements of the company's development strategy, allowing it to quickly respond to changes and occupy new markets. The peculiarities of the formation of the business entity's development strategy in the conditions of a dynamic business environment, which requires it to combine traditional strategic approaches and innovative ideas, are considered. It was determined that the involvement of all levels and units of the organization in the process of strategic planning is an important aspect of the formation of the company's development strategy in the conditions of a dynamic business environment. At the same time, communication and cooperation between structural divisions, the ability to effectively exchange information become the basis for the successful implementation of the chosen strategy.

ЕМОЦІЙНО-ВОЛЬОВА СФЕРА ОСОБИСТОСТІ МЕНЕДЖЕРА В ПРОЦЕСІ УПРАВЛІННЯ КОЛЕКТИВОМ

The article is devoted to topical issues of determining the emotional-volitional sphere of the manager's personality in the process of team management. The integration of personal and psychological characteristics of the manager into management processes is analyzed. The specifics of the manager's activities in modern conditions are indicated. The main qualities of the manager include: internal beliefs and willingness to manage; the ability to lead; the ability to manage, the desire for leadership; developed volitional qualities and self-regulation; analytical skills and critical thinking; the ability to work in a team and the ability to take responsibility. The specificity of the emotional-volitional sphere of the manager's personality is substantiated and its importance in the process of team management is described. Emotions and feelings belong to the same substructure of personality. The study noted that emotions and feelings can be differentiated into the following groups: in the form of manifestation (moods, affects, passions); by direction (positive and negative). The emotional sphere is interdependent with other cognitive processes: sensation, perception, memory, thinking, etc. The volitional qualities of the individual include: endurance, initiative, perseverance, organization, determination, self-control, independence, purposefulness, etc. The following characteristics indicate the formation of stable volitional qualities of the manager: the ability to carry out an adequate assessment of the situation, the optimal choice of ways for future action, the rational selection of means and tools, managerial decision-making, etc. The principles of regulation of the emotional-volitional sphere of the manager's personality in the context of the implementation of management activities by the team are determined. It is determined that the emotional-volitional sphere of the manager's personality is an integral component of the manager's personality, which reflects the situational attitude of a person to individual objects and volitional qualities and affects the communicative function of management.

The ability to make quick decisions, adapt to changing circumstances and maintain transparent communication channels with the team are critical to success. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, following the fundamental principles allows leaders to navigate the war and steer their organizations toward resilience and success. The article proves that wartime management involves careful navigation in conditions of numerous changes, which requires adaptability, foresight and strategic planning. The stages of development of scientific concepts of management were studied and the need for management and working personnel of a specific level of digital skills and abilities was proven, which indicates the constant need for training and personal development of management. Modern challenges in the field of management include a number of topical problems that affect the effectiveness and development of organizations in war conditions: digital transformation; globalization and international management; human capital and talent management; constant changes and agility; strategic innovation management; diversity and inclusion; stability and efficiency of management processes; logistical difficulties and occupational safety. These problems require constant study, analysis and implementation of new strategies and approaches to achieve successful management in the modern business environment. Law-making activity in modern conditions: essential dimensions and functional orientation

The article emphasizes that the effectiveness of state-making processes in any democratic state is determined by a number of factors, among which law-making occupies an important place as one of the main directions of state activity. Law-making is the result of the objective development of social relations, directly aimed at their regulation. The purpose, content and results of law-making activities are determined by various factors. Among them, the following ones are traditionally distinguished: professionalism of law-making subjects and their objectivity; the degree of influence and nature of the interests of individual social groups (the so-called lobbying); level of development of state legal institutions; legal culture of the population; form of government, government and regime; the nature of society’s mentality, etc.
 It is substantiated that law-making is based on law-making policy. The task of law-making policy is to ensure the system, integrity and consistency of legislation, to eliminate gaps in the latter. Attention is drawn to the fact that law-making characterizes the development of law and is a legal form of activity of the state and authorized subjects in the development, adoption, change, suspension and cancellation of legal standards.
 On the basis of clarifying the essential and meaningful features of law-making functions, their concept was formulated. It is emphasized that the functions of law-making should be understood as the directions of its influence on the development of social relations, which reveal its essence, nature and purpose in society and the state and are aimed at fulfilling certain of its tasks. Particular attention is paid to the types of law-making functions and their features are characterized.

Модернізація діяльності правоохоронних органів України в сучасних умовах

Annotation. The current conditions of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine are extremely complex, which requires increased efficiency in this area. The purpose of this article was to highlight the main directions of modernization of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. This study was carried out within the limits of the set goal using the following methods: information-analytical method, system approach method, anamnestic method, descriptive statistics method, descriptive analysis method, forecasting method. The specificity of law enforcement agencies' activities in modern conditions is determined by: the introduction of martial law and a change in the qualitative and quantitative composition of crime; globalization and European integration processes and universalization; digitization of law enforcement activities; establishing international cooperation in the fight against crime and ensuring national security. Proposals for improving law enforcement activities should be combined into one document, such as the Program for the Modernization of Law Enforcement Agencies of Ukraine, which will include the following areas: law enforcement agency activities under martial law; provision of socially oriented law enforcement activities; democratization and depoliticization of the law enforcement sphere; improvement of the legal framework of law enforcement activities based on international standards and foreign experience; ensuring the appropriate educational and qualification level of law enforcement officers; implementation of digital technologies and information systems; cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations and the public; international cooperation. This study cannot be considered exhaustive, but it opens perspectives in the development of research in this area. In particular, this concerns the establishment of cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations and citizens in ensuring national security in the conditions of martial law.

Prevention of bullying among minors at school

The problems of violence among minors, which takes the form of bullying, are quite actively discussed in society. The causes of deviant violent behaviour of children against their peers are overwhelmingly related to the problems of family bonding of perpetrators and their victims. The lack of an adequate response to aggression often leads to the criminalisation of adolescents’ personalities and, at the same time, to the victimisation of potential victims of bullying. Investigations have shown that minors most often experience bullying at school and in the street. What is the leading area of activity for adolescence, is schooling. Educational institutions, whose vocation is to equip pupils with a certain amount of knowledge, should pay more attention to the upbringing of pupils and the prevention of deviant behaviour. Recently adopted normative acts aimed at intensifying the upbringing activity of general educational institutions, including the prevention of violence, bullying among minors, are considered in the article. It is necessary to establish the training of teachers to carry out the work of upbringing, to manage children’s collective, to implement preventive activities in modern conditions of social development. In order to increase the role of ubringing of general education institutions, it is necessary to revise the norms of teachers’ labour load and criteria for payment of ubringing work. Also, the issues of expediency of introducing a draft law, which would be aimed at combating bullying in schools and bullying prevention, submitted to the State Duma of Russia and subsequently developed by the Ministry of Education as the State Bullying Prevention Programme and creation of the Unified Bullying Prevention Standard and administrative responsibility of schools for their non-fulfilment, are considered in the article. The conclusion is that excessive unification of bullying prevention work of general education institutions with reporting and administrative liability measures in case of non-fulfilment of measures aimed at bullying prevention is not appropriate.

THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE IN MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

The article highlights the peculiarities of implementing the results of psychological research for the development of marketing. It is also analyzed that psychological knowledge has a direct impact on the effectiveness of marketing communications and advertising.The basic principles on which the use of triggers in marketing communications is based are defined.The article contains the author’s own interpretation of the directions of development of the marketing psychologist’s activity in modern conditions.

DEVELOPMENT OF REFLECTIVE COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS IN THE PROCESS OF INTERACTIVE TEACHING OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The article is devoted to the problem of developing students' reflexive thinking and excessive cognitive skills in order to prepare them for effective professional activity in modern conditions. Critical thinking, readiness for creativity, reflective abilities, and the ability to self-regulate are no less than the professional knowledge obtained in the study of special subjects. The evolution of approaches to reflectivecompetence and reflective methods in teaching is noted. Learning a foreign language can greatly contribute to the development of the intellectual apparatus of a student's personality due to the realization of the integral connection between thinking and speech, communication and cognitive processes.

Analysis of the activities of state development institutions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

In the current realities, regardless of whether the organization is commercial or budgetary, it can no longer pay attention only to the development of current work plans and the management of internal progress. There was an understanding that for the existence of one’s activity in modern conditions it is extremely important to apply strategic thinking, which allows one to pre-scribe a sequence of actions that will be aimed at realizing the goals and means of the chosen direction of the company’s movement. This is a tool that allows you to identify the parameters and indicators that require, can be both a strength and a weakness of the organization that require attention. This scientific article is devoted to just one of these tools – strategic analysis, which was carried out on the example of the Innovation Development Fund of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The article provides an analysis of the external and internal environment of the organization, determines the factors influencing the activity of the object of consideration. The article offers strategic recommendations for improving the Fund’s activities and developing new strategic priorities. The study is conducted on the example of the Innovation Development Fund of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), one of the leading organizations in the field of innovation ecosystem development in the Republic. The results of the study can be useful for management personnel involved in the development of an innovative economy and the management of organizations in this area. The purpose of this work was to develop proposals for improving the strategy of the organization, which will positively affect the organization. To achieve the target, the following tasks were completed:– conducted external and internal analysis of the environment of the Innovation Development Fund of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); – a strategic analysis of the organization was carried out; – suggested recommendations for improving the strategic priorities and management of the organization.

Professional Sustainability of Personality: Analysis of Volunteering Activity in Modern Conditions

Volunteer work is difficult to characterize as easy, as it requires people to take a lot of responsibility, energy costs, emotional inclusion and the ability to quickly adapt in situations of increased complexity. There is a growing need to study the characteristics of volunteers’ sustainability. The aim of the article. The purpose of the article is to envisage volunteer activity in Ukraine as a manifestation of social activity of citizens in the context of determining the relationship between sustainability, value orientations and emotional burnout in volunteers as individual mental structures. Research methods. The psychodiagnostic toolkit consisted of the following techniques: the method of diagnosing the level of emotional “burnout” according to V. Boiko for studying the components of “emotional burnout” (tension, resistance, exhaustion), O. Kokun’s questionnaire “Professional vitality” in the context of revealing the components of vitality (control, inclusion, acceptance of a challenge (control, commitment, challenge)) and M. Rokych’s questionnaire “Value orientations” to outline the rank list of volunteers’ values. The results of the research. Involvement of volunteers in various events and programs changes their value priorities from the values of personal life (love, happy family life, productive life) to the values of self-realization and moral responsibility (interesting work, material status, honesty, tolerance, etc.). One of the important factors is the formation and development of civic competence. Conlusions. According to the results of the research, it was determined that participation in volunteer activities contributes to the development of the professionalism of the future social worker, such values as tolerance, patience, an active lifestyle, responsibility. Personal qualities that need to be developed and improved play an important role in this process. Волонтерську роботу складно охарактеризувати як легку, оскільки вона вимагає від людей великої відповідальності, енергетичних витрат, емоційної включеності та здатності швидко адаптуватися до ситуацій підвищеної складності. Зростає потреба у вивченні характеристик стійкості волонтерів.

Accounting and management systems as the basis of enterprise development

The article presents a study on the management of accounting systems, its current state, as well as on the difficulties that arise in the work of enterprises under the risks’ influence. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been studied on the economic activity of the enterprise and on the reporting formation. The main changes in the organization of the company’s activities in modern conditions and costs affecting the accounting statements have been reflected. The accounting problems in conditions of uncertainty and violation of information exchange between responsibility centers have been identified. The existing systems’ comparative analysis of accounting, management accounting and risk management has been compiled. The benefits of optimizing accounting systems under the influence of modern risks have been formulated and information on them has been detailed, in accordance with the specifics of conducting financial and business operations at enterprises. The interrelation of accounting and risk management systems has been established, aimed at minimizing losses in the implementation of the enterprise’s activities in conditions of uncertainty.

Systematization of industrial innovation management based on the project approach

Innovative development of the economy in general, and industry in particular, is one of the key priorities of state policy today. It is also aimed at stimulating and encouraging strategic project initiatives and increasing the innovative activity of enterprises. The solution of topical issues related to innovative developments and project activities in modern conditions is assigned mainly to large industrial enterprises, state corporations, research organizations, as well as young initiatives in the form of startups and other project forms. It is manufacturing innovations that are becoming most important now, as they are a fundamental factor of competitiveness and may be of strategic importance for industrial production. Purposeful search for ideas, conducting scientific research, active development, timely technical and informational support and updating, orientation and readiness for structural changes and the influence of the external environment, allow an industrial enterprise to successfully develop in the field of innovation. It is important to ensure and organize the internal organizational environment. Thus, the implementation of an enterprise's innovation policy should be based on competent system management, in a certain way, delimiting and designating the areas of responsibility of departments and specialists. The technical department, in this case, solves the tasks of activating innovation activity based on selected key strategically important decisions, purposefully established in the innovation policy of the enterprise. Managers should be responsible for using up-to-date regulated approaches to activating the system management of this activity. Technological solutions obtained in the process of RD must be effectively introduced into production or commercialized, but, of course, not every idea is justified and finds application on the planned scale. Many innovations do not reach the implementation stage and are rejected at the first stages of design work, and some are implemented, but are ineffective, which is associated with a poorly developed or unproductive management system, and this, in turn, leads to suboptimal expenditure of funds, time and other production resources. This implies the need to systematize the management of production innovations.

State support of entrepreneurial activity in modern conditions

The article examines the peculiarities of state of war has the greatest impact on the ability of enterprises to develop and, in general, to remain competitive and profitable.The importance of state support has been proven by many factors, as entrepreneurs have received new challenges facing a large number of problems, in particular: the lack of a sufficient number of solvent customers in the domestic market, the unpredictability of the development of the situation in Ukraine; lack of sufficient capital; unavailability of credit funds; disruption of supply chains; inefficient, long and expensive logistics; personnel problems and others. At the same time, the impossibility of long-term planning by entrepreneurs is negative. The purpose of the article. Study of directions and instruments of state support for business entities, and their influence on the adoption of anti-crisis measures in the activities of entrepreneurs in modern conditions. The methods used in the research process: the work uses the method of analysis, generalization, and deduction. Results of the work: The main tasks and directions of state support of business entities in modern conditions have been established. The main problems of their development during the period of martial law are analyzed.

ASSESSMENT OF THE COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL OF THE RESULT OF INNOVATIVE ACTIVITY IN MODERN ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

The aim of the work is to develop a methodology for assessing the commercial potential of the results of innovative activity in modern conditions. The article presents the results of the analysis of the regulatory framework and publications in the field of organization and management of innovation activities. The analysis of a large number of domestic and foreign sources on the problem under consideration allowed us to establish a high interest of researchers in this topic, which indicates its importance and relevance. Based on the results of the analysis, the author's methodology for assessing the commercial potential of the results of innovation activity is proposed. The proposed methodology is based on the methods of system analysis and multicriteria collective expertise. The methodology can be used at the stage of evaluating the results of innovative activity in the interests of making an informed decision on the feasibility of their further commercialization.

PROBLEMS OF PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION INTRODUCTION OF A PERSON INTO AN ORGANIZED CRIMINAL GROUP OR CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION TO PERFORM THE SPECIAL TASK OF UNDERSTANDING CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES

The article examines the existing problems of the practical implementation of the introduction of a person into an organized criminal group or criminal organization to perform a special task of preventing or uncovering his criminal activity in modern conditions. Attention is paid to the growth of the scale of organized crime, the spread of its influence on almost all spheres of public life, including the efforts of some of its representatives to control political and economic processes in the state, which creates a real threat to national security, which in turn, new tasks are presented to the subjects of the struggle and lead to the search for effective measures aimed at counteracting the specified negative social phenomenon. Attention is drawn to the fact that increasing the effectiveness of the fight against crime, which is gaining professionalism, organization, and transnationalization at the current stage, as well as strengthening the guarantee of ensuring the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of a person in criminal proceedings, require the improvement of the toolkit for obtaining evidence in the criminal process. The instability of the socio-political and economic situation in society, the imperfection of the mechanism of state administration and the lack of effective public control over the activities of state authorities, the rapid decline in the standard of living of the majority of the population, as well as a number of other factors have currently created favorable conditions for the development of organized crime. The work emphasizes that the performance of a special task to prevent or uncover the criminal activities of organized criminal groups is a special type of task to prevent or uncover the activities of an organized group or criminal organization, which can be performed only by participating in the criminal activities of the specified groups with the aim of gaining trust and obtaining the necessary information.

PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS AS A FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENT OF THE ESSENCE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

Based on the understanding of the criminal procedure as a means for the protection of rights and freedoms of the individual involved in criminal proceedings, the authors consider unresolved problems and the most topical issues for theory and practice of petitions and complaints in this field. Petitions and complaints are given the appropriate place of a fundamental element in determining the essence of criminal procedure. Purpose: based on the modern understanding of the aim of criminal procedure, to formulate the main directions of the study of the legal institution of petitions and complaints in order to determine their place in the system of theoretical knowledge and in practice. Methods: system analysis, formal and dialectical logic, interpretation of legal norms, comparative historical, comparative legal. Results: the study reveals the relevance of petitions and complaints to the purpose of criminal proceedings, which is to protect the rights and freedoms of persons involved in criminal proceedings. The institution in question, previously underestimated, plays a significant and sometimes decisive role in society’s assessment of the effectiveness of criminal procedure activities in modern conditions. The main lines of scientific researches are identified, which should eventually lead to the development of a full-fledged mechanism for exercising the right to petitions and complaints as a universal and specific legal means that ensures that criminal procedure activity complies with its purpose and the demands of civil society.

The Concept of Legal Regulation of Medical Activities

The paper is devoted to the study of the main problems of legal regulation of medical activity in modern conditions. The author explains problematic aspects of organizational, legal, and doctrinal nature. The author highlights that medical activity as a separate group of economic relations can and should become a starting category for regulating close, but not identical, groups of legal relations in healthcare. The author proposes the main outlines of a possible concept of legal regulation of medical activity. The author elucidates his standing concerning the complex system of legal regulation of medical activity, its irreducibility to the subject field of medical services or medical care. The legitimization of medical activity involves the development of general, specific, as well as special (extraordinary) legal regimes for its implementation. The approach to the legal regulation of medical activity as a separate branch (field) of the economy (based on the totality of its economic, social and other effects), in the author’s opinion, allows us to form a consistent system of legislation regulating medical practice and healthcare legal relations in general.
