Kurikulum mengalami reorientasi dari masa ke masa mengikuti perkembangan zaman dan teknologi. Kurikulum diupayakan dapat mengimbangi era yang semakin mendigital. Kurikulum pendidikan tinggi menggunakan basis KKNI yang diklasifikasikan dalam jenjang-jenjang sesuai denga tingkat pendidikan. Pendidikan tinggi khususnya pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia berupaya untuk melakukan orientasi konsep pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan KKNI. Model kurikulum Franklin Bobbit yang mengusung konsep sederhana bermakna bahwa kurikulum adalah untuk kehidupan manusia dapat menjadi alternatif reorientasi pengembangan kurikulum. Lulusan bahasa dan sastra Indonesia yang dianggap hanya bisa menjadi guru, dengan menggunakan pengembangan Bobbit akan mampu bersaing di bidang pekerjaan lain seperti penulis, editor, wartawan, pewara, penyunting, linguis, dan budayawan. Bobbit mengusung lima konsep pengembangan kurikulum antara lain, analisis pengembangan manusia, analisis pekerjaan, menurunkan tujuan, merumuskan tujuan, dan perencanaan secara terperinci. Langkah implementasi model Bobbit jika diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran terdiri dari empat langkah antara lain, menentuksn tujuan, membagi tujuan ke dalam aktivotas dan ide, menganalisis waktu, dan evaluasi. Konsep dan langkah Bobbit relevan dengan konsep KKNI yang mengutamakan learning outocome melalui analisis sumber daya manusia, pekerjaan, dan tujuan yang tercapai.
