Abstract
The Nernst-Brunner equation has been applied to the electrochemical deposition of carrier-free radioactive ions on metal foils in a modified form to include decay and growth. The modified equation was shown to hold for the deposition of 212Bi(ThC) and 210Bi(RaE) on nickel foils from weak hydrochloric acid solutions under the following conditions: pure 212Bi, 212Bi in equilibrium with 212Pb(ThB), 212Bi in equilibrium with 228Th(RdTh), and 210Bi in equilibrium with 210Pb(RaD). Some indications of the purity of the deposited radio-bismuth are given.
