Abstract

The present article seeks to introduce to the academic circles two parish family books from Zegrze Parish dating back to 1786 and 1787, included in the parish records of Zegrze stored in the Diocese Archives in Plock. The documents were discovered in early 2020 during a research visit paid to the archives by Rafal Degiel, Wawrzyniec Orlinski, and the author of the present article as part of the works on the exhibition titled “Zegrze. Lost City on the Narew” at the Historical Museum in Legionowo (the exhibition opened on 13 September 2020). A critical source edition of status animarum, a type of register rare in the territory of Poland and especially hard to come by in Masovia, will likely contribute not only to historical research on a broader scale but also to regional studies.
