Abstract

The last period of classical Turkish literature is quite colorful and enriched with poets, poetry, poetic attitudes and poetry environments. The social changes and transformations experienced in this period, on the one hand, expanded poetry subjects, on the other hand, prepared the ground for the emergence of new and different literary genres. As a result of all these, a new literary genre has been introduced. The poems of Muhit, which is the subject of this study, draw attention with their search for new discourse within the framework of traditional styles and concepts. At the same time, it is possible to see the traces of the cultural relations and literary understandings of the Hoca Neset neighborhood and the palace bureaucracy in the poems examined, where the poets is in the intellectuals of the period come together. There is no information about Muhit in the tezkires, literary histories and other source works. The poems of Muhit are included in a journal registered to the archive number of the National Library Manuscript Collection 06 Mil Yz A 3284/1. In this study, firstly, the poems of Muhit are examined in terms of form and content and the poems are tried to be evaluated on the cultural life and literature of the period. Finally, the transcribed text of Muhit’s poems are given.
