Abstract

Work environment risk factors have a big influence in the daily life of employees at every company and work environment. In this study, a wide-ranging work environment risk assessment was carried out, using qualitative, quantitative, and semi-quantitative risk assessment methods, comparing the obtained results, and influencing factors, as well as evaluating the work environment management system and recommending possible improvements in its future development. The importance of the topic is justified by the fact that petrol stations are sites of heightened danger, where employees must pay greater attention to ensuring and maintaining a safe and secure environment to prevent the transformation of potential risks into real accidents or incidents. The work was developed at a company in Riga, Latvia, and station surveys were conducted in March 2021. As part of the work environment risk assessment process, four petrol stations in Pardaugava, Riga, were chosen for the risk assessment and measurements. In addition to station evaluations, an employee survey was conducted at 66 petrol stations throughout Latvia.
