Abstract

A novel approach is, to optimize the end milling parameters using Taguchi based grey relational analysis (GRA) on the AA7075-10 wt% of TiC particulate composite processed by stir casting route. The input parameters were chosen as spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut. As the output of machining performance, the material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (SR) have been selected. The machining was done on the basis of Taguchi’s L9 (33) orthogonal array. The SN ratio and ANOVA were assessing the impact of parameters on MRR and SR. The result found that for maximum MRR and minimum SR, the combination of 1500 rpm spindle speed, 300 mm/min feed rate and 1.5 mm depth of cut has been identified as the optimum standard. The outcome of ANOVA shows that depth of cut and feed rate was the most notable parameters for influencing the MRR and SR. To verify the adequacy of the experimental findings, the validation test was performed.
