Abstract

Natural fibers have made a better importance by replacing the synthetic fibers in many applications. These days most of the composite are made of natural fibers due to its low cost, light weight, ease of work, renewability, and ecofriendly nature. The brake pad composites are developed by using the sisal fiber to find the alternative for brake industries. The composites were developed by the various percentages of Kenaf fibers [5–20%] to find the substitute of asbestos and synthetic fibers brake friction material. The results of physico-mechanical properties reveal that tensile Modulus, ultimate compressive strength, impact energy, flexural strength shows good performance at 10 wt% fibers contents in composites matrix. Also, the ultimate tensile strength, shear strength, proof stress shows good performance at 15 wt% fibers contents in brake pad composites. Thermal stability for Kenaf fibers composites increases with increases percentage fiber contents.
