Welcome Speech from Chairperson

Abstract

Excellences, Distinguished Delegates, Ladies, and Gentlemen,As chairman of The 2nd ICFAES in conjunction with The 6th Annual Conference of the Asian Society of Ichthyologists, It gives me great pleasure and honor to extend to you all a very warm welcome on behalf of the international conference committee. I wish to take this opportunity to welcome the participants from Europe, America, Australia, and Asia as the representative of the students, lecturers, and researchers. I also wish to welcome our keynote speaker Prof. Lawrence Page, Dr. Martin Wilkes, and Dr. Luky Adrianto and our invited speakers, Prof. Siti Azizah, Prof. K. Marimuthu, Dr. Pengfei Li, Dr. Zeehan Jaafar, Dr. Sebastian Lavoue, for coming to our campus. I hope, today's event will serve as a catalyst for strengthening international cooperation on the transfer of knowledge. In addition, I am most thankful for the ceaseless efforts of staff members of Marine and Fisheries Faculty of Syiah Kuala University including our Rector, Prof. Samsul Rizal and our Dean, Prof. Muchlisin. Conferences such as this one provide an opportunity to talk about common challenges, share best practices, and discuss groundbreaking scientific research and technology that will help our fisheries and the environment grow, adapt and innovate so they can meet the realities of tidal as well as the demands of tomorrow. Through such international collaboration, Syiah Kuala University will be able to contribute even more to the promotion of welfare both at home and worldwide. Moreover, we will provide full support so that technology and knowledge developed at other distinguished universities in Indonesia can be spread globally, with Syiah Kuala University serving as the channel. Our interest can succeed only with continued interest and support from diverse parties including not only Syiah Kuala University itself but also industries, the academia, the government, and investors. Last but not least, I strongly hope that all of the distinguished guests gathered here today will offer your generous support and encouragement for the success of this event.
