Abstract
Building recognition is a very difficult task to achieve, since their images have different angles and lighting conditions and partial obstructions from trees, moving vehicles or other buildings. Thus, due to all these difficulties, this work proposes a recognition system that uses the Gabor filter representation for feature extraction and the Wavelet transform for dimensionality reduction, and the Multilayer Perceptron artificial neural network for recognition. To verify the efficiency of this system, a database of images of new and old buildings was used. The performance of the method stands out significantly in relation to other methods found in other published works.
