Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the dedication entries that the authors put on books donated to Władysław Orkan. They all come from his private library donated by the writer's family to the Podhalan House in Ludźmierz. The acquired dedication texts were considered in terms of their place in the genre field of the dedication, taking into account canonical, alternating and adaptive patterns. In addition, the implementation of the strategy of positive politeness inscribed in individual texts was considered. In addition, the dedications were treated as a contribution to the reception of the person and work of Władysław Orkan by his contemporaries.
