Abstract

"Warfare is the continuation of politics." In a certain sense, one's viewpoints on warfare can also then be said to be a political viewpoint. That is why we have absorbed Lao Zi's viewpoints about war and warfare into the realm of political philosophy, and discuss the points here. Then, there were also some of Lao Zi's sayings that relate to the principles of conducting war, and these would belong to the realm of military philosophy; however, they are extremely slight in "weight" and dimension, and it would not be appropriate for us to set that up as a separate chapter, and therefore, we put these as an appendix for this chapter, and discuss these matters in this section of the current book.
