Abstract

Coaxial swirling jet mixing is relevant to combustion processes in double concentric-type burners. A detailed comparison of numerical predictions with experimental results for contraswirling jets in a suddenly expanding confinement indicates that theoretical predictions for the axial component of the velocity are in closer agreement with experimental values for weak swirls. Agreement deteriorates with increasing swirl intensity. 8 references.
