Abstract

This paper presents analyzed results of a surface permanent magnet motor by using the complex E&S modeling. The complex E&S modeling is developed to consider the vector magnetic properties simply in optimization procedures with the finite element method although there is a limitation that is restricted by the complex approximation. The conventional E&S modeling is very time-consuming because of strong magnetic nonlinearities and low-convergence property, therefore it is not suitable to use in technical designing. The calculated results with the complex E&S modeling are compared with one of the conventional E&S modeling for verification. The results demonstrate that the complex E&S modeling is very useful in designing under consideration of the rotational magnetic loss and magnetic anisotropy.
