Abstract
A voltage control oscillator (VCO) adopting a magnetic flux control loop is demonstrated in 90 nm CMOS technology. The size of the magnetic control loop is adjustable by switching transistors on the loop, which enables the variability of inductivity in the resonator and widens the oscillation frequency range of the VCO. The tuning range of the VCO is from 13.35 to 15.6 GHz with power consumption of 5.88 mW, and phase noise of -127 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset under 1.3 V supply voltage.
