Abstract

In today’s world, composites have got a diverse application in various fields such as automobiles, civil, aerospace because of its high strength to weight ratio as well as high resilience. Holes are introduced in composites to serve many purposes such as electrical wire installation, joining of various parts by using mechanical bolts etc. So, it is necessary to acknowledge the behavioural changes in the composite material due to existence of holes to design any component in an efficient manner. Effect of holes in isotropic material can be predicted easily as compared to anisotropic material. In this paper, an experimental study has been conducted on CFRP laminate in the company of holes introduced in top and bottom array to recognize the variation in the composite laminates tensile properties. From the results, it is concluded that the specimen with a single hole has lesser tensile load carrying capacity compared to specimen with multiple holes.
