Abstract

The purpose of this study was to verify the validity of the preschool play behavior scale for Korean preschool children(PPBS-K). Participants were 525 preschool children and their teacher from U city. the data were analyzed by exploratory factor analysis, reliability(Chronbach s α), correlation, and confirmatory factor analysis. the following main themes emerged from the data: (1) the preschool play behavior scale of Korean preschool hildren consisted of 5 factors, ‘social play’, ‘reticent behavior’, ‘solitary-passive behavior’, ‘solitary-active behavior’, ‘rough play’ with 18 items. (2) the confirmatory factor analysis revealed that CMIN/DF= 2.21, RMSEA= .07, SRMR= .06, TLI= .90, CFI= .92. (3) Chronbach s α was ranged from .70 to .87. All these results show that the preschool play behavior scale for Korean preschool children is quite reliable and valid.
