Uwagi na marginesie pierwszej czeskiej regionalnej monografii hydronimicznej

Abstract

This review article is devoted to the 2021 book by K. Kovářová “Hydronymy of the Ostravice River basin. Names of rivers, streams, ponds and wells” based on her doctoral thesis of 2019. This is the first systematic Czech monograph of a particular river basin, although in this case a relatively small one. The paper outlines, discusses and tries to improve the main shortcomings of the work concerning both documentation (important source publications were left out of consideration, especially Polish ones) and the etymological interpretation of several items which in fact require more profound insights into Slavic onomastics.
