Abstract

Recuperative counterflow furnaces are based on a thermotechnically ideal scheme of heat exchange and are the most promising systems for firing ceramic materials on a large scale. The thermodynamic quality of such furnaces is governed by their exergetic characteristics, which are based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics.
