Abstract

The use of antifibrinolytic agents in the management of DIC has only been studied in uncontrolled case reports and, since more than thirty years, only one controlled study has been published in obstetrical DIC. Regarding fibrinolysis activators, the experimental results observed in the rabbit and the pig models, are more encouraging. Clinical results observed in only one controlled study are interesting but must be cautiously interpreted according to the high haemorrhagic risk of these agents.
