Abstract

The primary etiologic agent of infectious keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) is Moraxella bovis, which causes the majority of ocular inflammations in cattle from central Brazil. It may lead to significant production losses and laborious treatment protocols. Therefore, this study assesses an alternative procedure for treating infectious keratoconjunctivitis that consists of a single intrapalpebral application of florfenicol (600 mg in each affected eye). Our results show both clinical and economic advantages of this technique as well as its prospects for wide use.
