Abstract
United States President-elect Joe Biden has said he will rejoin the Paris agreement on climate change the day he takes office in January 2021. He will also seek to implement the four-year, US$2 trillion climate-change plan proposed during his election campaign. However, there will be steep political hurdles to passing any new climate laws in the US Congress, which means that the Biden administration will rely instead on executive orders and new rounds of diplomacy to meet its climate goals.
