Abstract

An erroneous measurement of DNase-resistant adsorption of donor DNA by plant cell protoplasts may result from the use of polycations and metal cations. A DNAase-resistant complex is formed independent of protoplasts as well as during adsorption to either intact or broken protoplasts. Analysis of adsorbed DNA by cesium chloride density-gradient centrifugation showed extensive degradation of donor DNA.
