Abstract

The proportion of renewable energy sources (RES) in the power system is gradually increasing, which inevitably leads to the penetration of power electronics. Besides, external factors such as extreme weather may also give rise to wind power ramp events. These factors all have impacts on the stability and security of the power system. Thus, it is important to study the strategy for dealing with wind power ramp events in power system with high proportion of wind power. This paper firstly analyzes the potential adjustment capability of generator units in power system with high proportion of wind power. Then based on this, the unit coordinated control strategy for wind power ramping is proposed from the perspective of power grid. Shutdown of wind turbines and scheduling of generator units are coordinated to alleviate the impact of wind power ramping on the safety and stability of the power system. Experiments are conducted in the IEEE-30 node standard test system. Results indicate that the proposed strategy can alleviate the influence of wind power ramp events on power system.
