Abstract

The second reading of an inscription from Narbonne (CIL, XII, 4983 = HGL, XV, 668) highlights the existence of a freedman of the colony. His nomen is Martius. The onomastic investigation is moving towards another inscription that could be attached to the epigraphic corpus of Narbonne (ILGN, 564) and to the personality of L(ucius) Satullus Martius, merchant of " wine from Béziers" known at Rome (CIL, XV, 4542), also a descendant of a freedman of this colony of Narbonne.
