Abstract

The technology of ultrasonic method of tapping is presented in this paper. With the help of a special ultrasonic device comparative studies of the influence of ultrasound on the process of cutting internal threads were conducted. The research into the influence of the tap size on the cutting torque was also conducted. Presented dependencies show that in the case of ultrasonic processing there is a decrease in the values of the cutting torque in the whole range of investigated velocities. The additional wear-resistant coating on the tap also reduces the cutting torque, which ultimately leads to an increase in the tap resistance period.
