Abstract

The authors describe the possibilities for the application of measurement of longitudinal ultrasonic waves to ndt with special reference to the inspection of malleable iron castings. They discuss experimental details of such measurements and the problem of its application in industry. They give two examples of applications for castings designed as machine parts: detection of primary graphite; and hardness testing.
