Abstract

Ultrasonic measurements were made on Na 2SO 4 in the mixtures of 10, 20 and 30 % dioxane with water for different salt concentrations at the temperatures 303, 308, 313, 318 and 323 K. Free volume and internal pressure were calculated using the sound velocity, density and viscosity of the solution and discussed in the light of specific molecular interaction between the solvent molecules and ions. For any given concentration the variation of internal pressure and free volume obeys the relationship π iV X f = K in accordance with the previous results.
