Abstract
Viewing ultrafast structural dynamics requires high brightness, short-pulse X-ray sources. Third generation synchrotrons provide sufficient brightness for many experiments; however, they are limited in their temporal resolution. In this paper we discuss ideas on how to extend the capabilities of the synchrotron down to picoseconds and below.
