Abstract

AbstractDegenerate four‐wave mixing (DFWM) spectra of CuCl thin films with high crystalline quality and with thicknesses in the order of hundreds of nanometers have been investigated. We found that the several components appear with the enormous radiative shift below the transverse exciton energy in the DFWM spectrum and succeeded in demonstrating that the energy of each component is in good agreement with the eigenenergy for the mode structure of a size‐dependent exciton–radiation coupled system. The ultrafast response time of DFWM around 100 fs is observed in a thin film with a thickness of 187 nm, which reflects the theoretically predicted and extremely large radiative width.
