Abstract
The aim of the article is a dialogue between Ukrainian folk dance and its modern youth interpretation against the background of historiography. Sources of modern youth interpretation are rooted in respect for the spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people, patriotism, demonstration of folk dance in festive and ceremonial culture, popularization of folk dance by motivating educational, professional, and creative activities. The strategy of research of Ukrainian folk dance is presented against the background of the project “Ukrainian rukhanka”. The study, popularization and preservation of dance traditions of Ukrainian folk dance in modern youth interpretation is a priority for research in art history, cultural research, pedagogy, history. Motivation to dance in the modern youth environment may be considered in the context of dance groups, ensembles, projects. We focus on the project “Ukrainian rukhanka” and on the historiography of the problem. Historical progress of Ukrainian folk dance in the youth environment was outlined with regard to the legacy of V. Verkhovynets, V. Avramenko, P. Virsky, Ia. Chuperchuk, as well as the amateur choreographic art and motivate trends in folk dance.
