Abstract

The article presents an analytical description of the focus given to multiliteracies in the discipline “Text and Teaching: Orality and Writing”, in the English Language Course, during Emergency Remote Education at the Federal University of Acre. Therefore, it begins with a brief contextualization about the emergence of Covid-19 in global and local spheres and the consequent suspension of the face-to-face classes that resulted in the use of online platforms to make remote teaching feasible. Then, excerpts from the Course Plan of the discipline in focus are analyzed, as well as a critical reading activity proposed by the professor from the perspective of multiliteracies (ROJO; MOURA, 2012; ORLANDO; FERREIRA, 2013). It is concluded that the adoption of multimodal practices in teaching helps in the formation of a more critical citizen, enabling the understanding of different social contexts common to contemporary coexistence.
