Abstract

Chain transfer in polymerization of butadiene in toluene, initiated by organosodium compounds, was found to involve two consecutive reactions: the formation of a new organometallic compound and its subsequent reaction with the monomer. Methods have been developed for the maximum suppression of reactions that limit chain growth in butadiene polymerization initiated by organosodium compounds.
