Abstract

α,ω-Dihydroxyarylenecyclosiloxane oligomers with a variable degree of polymerization have been synthesized by heterofunctional polycondensation in the presence of pyridine of p-bis-(dimethyl-chlorosilyl(benzene) with 1,5-dihydroxyhexaphenyl-cyclotetrasiloxane with different molar ratios of the starting components. The oligomers obtained were used in heterofunctional polycondensation with α,ω-dichloro- or α,ω- bis-(dimethyl-amino) dimethylsiloxanes resulting in the synthesis of arylenecyclosiloxane-dimethylsiloxane block copolymers of the type (AB) m C n . It has been established that for certain lengths of the arylenecyclosiloxane and dimethylsiloxane fragments a biphasic structure is realized, i.e. the block properties of the copolymers manifest themselves.
