Abstract

It has been shown theoretically and confirmed experimentally that it is possible to change the molecular parameters and the molecular-mass distribution (MMD) of polymers over a wide range under conditions of two-phase non-equilibrium polycondensation. The molecular parameters and MMD are principally determined by the critical degree of completion of the reaction at which the system begins to undergo phase separation, by the phase-distribution parameter and by the ratio between the rate constants for macromolecular propagation in the two phases.
