Abstract

Two new high Curie temperature piezoelectric ceramics were reported for the first time. The PbTiNb2O8 and PbZrNb2O8 samples show single phase with space group of Amm2 and C222, respectively. With the sintering temperature of 1120°C and 970°C, PbTiNb2O8 ceramics and PbZrNb2O8 ceramics have the highest Tc of 700.1°C and 559.6°C, respectively. The thermal depoling effects study shows that the depoling temperature of PbTiNb2O8 and PbZrNb2O8 ceramics is around 560°C and 480°C, respectively. The typical piezoelectric properties of PbTiNb2O8 and PbZrNb2O8 ceramics are: d33=16pC/N, kp=0.11, Qm=102 and d33=20pC/N, kp=0.16, Qm=42, respectively. All PbTiNb2O8 and PbZrNb2O8 samples are have low dielectric loss with ~10−4, which is good for the application of devices.
