Abstract
Two novel Cd(II)/Zn(II) compounds based on flexible benzene dicarboxylate and N-donor auxiliary ligands, formulated as [Cd(phda)(dpe)]n (1) and [Zn(phda)(acpy)(H2O)]n (2), have been synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR, and fluorescent spectra (phda = 1,2-phenylenediacetate, dpe = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)-ethylene, and acpy = 4-acetylpyridine). Complex 1 displays 2D bilayer network featuring phda-bridged binuclear cadmium (II) ribbon-like chain further pillared by dpe ligand, whereas complex 2 exhibits 2D thick-layer with {4.82}-fes topology featuring phda-bridging carboxylate layer constructed by the alternate opposite helix chain. In addition, luminescent properties of the both complexes are also investigated.
