Abstract

This study reports on the synthesis of Bi2S3 nanostructures via an ultrasonic method by employing thioglycolic acid as a solvent, capping agent, and sulfur source. The as-synthesized products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The band gap of nanoparticles calculated 2.37 eV that shows a blue shift relative to the bulk material. The effects of time and power of ultrasonic irradiation were studied.
