Abstract

One of the most prominent features of Turkish political life is military coups. The negative impacts of the coups on different segments of society in Turkey were more common. Not all social groups reacted to the coups in the same way. In fact, some people showed a positive approach to the coups. The decisive role of the military in the system has also had a negative impact on universities. It was not possible to work freely on every subject. This was and has been reflected in the postgraduate theses written at the universities. Through bibliometric analysis of the theses written on coups, it is aimed to contribute to which of those coups aspects of the coups are examined. In this way, in addition to which issues are examined, the subjects that have not been studied yet will be revealed. Thus, it will be provided that the researchers will have the chance to work on the coups. To reach all of the post-graduate thesis written in Turkey, unfortunately, is very difficult. In this study, doctorate and master theses registered in the database of National Thesis Center of Higher Education Council have been subjected to bibliometric analysis. It was not possible to analyze the theses that exist in the system but do not have open access. Nevertheless, the theses examined are sufficient to reach important data for the studies about the coup.
