Abstract

The existing information on the neutron-induced (n, t) reactions, as well as the reaction cross-sections around 14 MeV neutron energy are reviewed for the interval of 12 ⩽ Z ⩽ 82. For practical purposes, an empirical expression for the (n, t) reaction cross-sections has been obtained by fitting the available experimental values as a function of ( N− Z) and ( E n− E th), where ( N− Z) is the neutron excess of the target nucleus, E n and E th are the incident neutron energy and the (n, t) threshold energy, respectively. It is seen that the empirical relation gives good fits with the experimental values.
