Abstract
A double-blind evaluation of the effectiveness of a staphylococcal bacteriophage-lysed vaccine in controlling recurrent furunculosis was done on a group of institutionalized school children. A statistically significant decrease in the number of furuncles occurred during the initial phase of study; however, the improvement could not be specifically related to the administration of the vaccine since comparable improvement occurred in children who received broth base as placebo. In the second phase there was no improvement in a group of patients who received vaccine therapy alone.
