Abstract

Biodiesel, which is made from renewable sources, consists of the simple alkyl esters of fatty acids.A two-step transesterification process was used to prepare methyl esters from high free fatty acid (FFA) non-edible oils In the present study, influence of key parameters like methanol/oil molar ratio, catalyst concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time were determined and compared for Used Cooking Oil(UCO) and Jatropha oil. Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy(GC-MS) and elemental analysis were analyzed. Physical and chemical properties of biodiesel are influenced by the structural features of fatty acid, and are compared with the biodiesel standards (ASTM D6751)
