Abstract

A comparative study of the thermal transfer, or exchange, in 51Cr(III)-doped chromium trisacetylacetone crystals and the thermal annealing in the neutron irradiated crystals has been carried out. Quite different thermal behaviours were found in the case of Cr. acac 3-crystals, doped with the 51Cr-species present in a methanolic solution of 51CrCl 3 and the undoped crystals. The thermal transfer in Cr. acac 3 crystals doped with the 51Cr-species present in a methanolic fraction obtained as a recoil product was quite similar to the thermal annealing in the neutron irradiated crystals. A ligand transfer mechanism is suggested to account for such behaviour.
