Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the personal problems experienced by the students of Nursing Department of Antalya Health High School because of the migration process, and the problems experienced by them with healthy or sick migrants in the application area. Method: This descriptive study was conducted by applying structured questionnaire form prepared by researcher to 2 nd and 3 rd year nursing students having clinical practice. Results: 82.0% of students were from out of Mediterranean region. It was indicated by students that 71.1% had financial difficulty, 51.6% had compliance problem, and 47.6 % had transportation problems in daily life in Antalya. 67.2% of students were determined to have housing problems. While giving care to patient coming by internal migration; they were determined to have problems due to cross-cultural differences (57.8%), problems about providing personal hygiene of patient (54.7%), and problems about not having family members undertaking patient care (61.0%). While giving care to patient coming by external migration; they had language problem (46.8%) and problems due to cross-cultural differences (42.1%). Conclusion: Nursing students having education in a region allowing immigration have numerous problems in person and while providing the patient with care. It is required to seek solutions according to requirements of students receiving education in regions allowing immigration and to improve adequate cultural care practices of students in nursing education. Ozet Amac: Bu calisma, Antalya Saglik Yuksekokulu hemsirelik bolumu ogrencilerinin goc surecinden dolayi yasadigi kisisel sorunlari ve uygulama alaninda saglikli veya hasta gocmen bireylerle yasadigi sorunlari saptamak amaciyla yapilmistir. Yontem: Arastirma uygulama icin klinige cikan 2. ve 3. sinif hemsirelik ogrencilerine, arastirmaci tarafindan hazirlanan yapilandirilmis soru formu uygulanarak tanimlayici olarak yapilmistir. Bulgular: Ogrencilerin %82.0’i Akdeniz bolgesi disindandir. Hemsirelik ogrencileri Antalya’da gunluk yasaminda %71.1’i gecim sikintisi ve %51.6’si uyum sorunu, %47.6’si ise ulasim sorunu yasadigini belirtmistir. Ogrencilerin %67.2’sinin barinma ile ilgili bir sorun yasamadigi saptanmistir. Ic goc ile gelen hastaya bakim verirken; kulturler arasi farkliliktan kaynaklanan sorun (%57.8), hastanin bireysel hijyenini karsilama ile ilgili sorun (%54.7) ve hasta bakimini ustlenen aile bireylerinin olmamasina iliskin sorun (%61.0) yasandigi belirlenmistir. Dis goc ile gelen hastaya bakim verirken; dil sorunu (%46.8) ve kulturlerarasi farkliliktan kaynaklanan sorunlar (%42.1) yasandigi saptanmistir. Sonuc: Goc alan bir bolgede egitim goren hemsirelik bolumu ogrencileri kisisel olarak ve hastaya bakim verirken farkli sorunlar yasamaktadir. Goc alan bolgelerde egitim goren ogrencilerin gereksinimlerine gore cozum yollarinin arastirilmasi ve hemsirelik egitiminde ogrencilerin kulturel yeterli bakim uygulamalarinin gelistirilmesi gerekmektedir.
