Abstract

Digital Transformation (DT) has been considered a critical structural change for SMEs to be responsive and agile in today's dynamic and turbulent business environments. This significance is more evident in mobility and transport systems in which the sector is undergoing radical technological changes in the context of smart cities. However, SMEs must possess some capabilities to successfully leverage DT toward better performance and gain a competitive advantage. The current research is a step forward toward achieving this goal. Using a multiple case study of mobility sector SMEs in Australia, the authors explore the nature of Dynamic Capabilities (DC) in SMEs and discover digital transformation's enablers, barriers, and performance outcomes.
